The School of Nursing invites you to a community health fair and preview of the new, Harriet Rothkopf Heilbrunn B’32 Academic Nursing Center on Thursday, December 7.  

“Wellness: A Family Affair” will offer free screening, referral and education services, as part of a special celebration and preview of the soon-to-open Harriet Rothkopf Heilbrunn B'32 Academic Nursing Center. Members of the School of Nursing will provide preventive health care services including blood pressure, health risk and mental health screenings, HIV testing, and diet and exercise information.

The health fair and preview celebration takes place on Thursday, December 7, from noon to 7 p.m., with a ribbon cutting at 12:30 p.m., in the Wellness, Recreation and Athletic Center, at 161 Ashland Place. The event is free and open to the public.

The event is being held within the facility that will be the Harriet Rothkopf Heilbrunn B'32 Academic Nursing Center, which is expected officially to open sometime in January 2007. It is planned to provide accessible and affordable prevention activities focusing on risk assessment, education, counseling and referral for vulnerable, underserved populations in the downtown Brooklyn area. The first academic nursing center in Brooklyn, it is being established thanks to the support of the Heilbrunn family, which is an important contributor to the vibrancy of Long Island University and the School of Nursing.
