Myrtle Avenue Revitalization Project
The mission of the Myrtle Avenue Commercial Revitalization and Development
Project Local Development Corporation is to restore the "Main
Street" of the Fort Greene/ Clinton Hill community to a bustling,
economically vital neighborhood commercial corridor that provides entrepreneurial,
cultural, recreational, and employment opportunities for all those

Lobby Day
Students meet with legislative officials in Albany during
the Commissions on Independent Colleges & Universities
(cIcu) lobby day, which takes place every year.
The Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities
(cIcu) www.cicu.org is
a statewide association representing the public policy interests of
the chief executives
of more than 100 independent (private, not-for-profit) colleges and
universities in New York State.
Legislative Forum
Provide workshops to students on the legislative process. Legislators
or representatives from the following offices participated in the legislative
forum:
Women’s Forum
Senator Velmanette Montgomery in collaboration with Brooklyn Campus Provost
Gale Stevens Haynes hosted a Women’s Career Forum “Success
is Within Your Reach” on November 19, 2002 attracting over 250
women to LIU for an evening forum to address pressing workforce needs.
Among the topics discussed were new trends in the workforce; starting
and financing your own business; starting or changing careers; joining
a non-profit and networking.
Silence the Violence Conference
The Brooklyn Campus in collaboration with the Brooklyn Borough president
co-sponsored a youth Anti-Violence Conference entitled “Silence
the Violence” which attracted over 700 youth from the metropolitan
area.
Neighborhood Advisory Board
Appointed Committee member of the Board. Served as a dais guest at the New York Women’s Agenda “NYWA” annual
breakfast.
