At Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus graduate programs
seek to provide qualified college graduates with the
opportunity to work with faculty members in formal courses,
seminars and research projects that encourage sound independent
thought and the maximum development of each student’s
intellectual capacities. Each course is designed to help
students acquire and refine professional skills, as well
as increase their appreciation and understanding of cultural
values. Approximately 2,000 graduate students attend
programs at the Brooklyn Campus.
Graduate classes meet primarily in the late afternoon
and evening, with some courses offered on weekends. A year-round
schedule, including two six-week summer sessions, is offered.

BS/MS Accelerated Programs
For licensed registered nurses with an associate degree who wish to fulfill
career goals by combining the baccalaureate and master’s degree with
a major in nursing. The program is a 160-credit program leading to an M.S.
with a major in nursing in either the Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Executive
track.
Master of Science Degree and Post-Master’s Certification
Programs
Prepares the baccalaureate-degree nurse to become certified as a nurse practitioner
in Adult, Family or Geriatric primary care. Graduates are eligible for New
York State certification and are prepared to sit for national certification
exams. Registered nurses with non-nursing baccalaureate degrees may be able
to qualify for entrance to the graduate program by validation of knowledge
through required tests. The programs are approved by the New York State Education
Department and fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education
(CCNE).
Master of Science Executive Program for Nursing
and Health Care Management
Designed to prepare nurse executives to assume positions of leadership in a
changing health care environment. Combines advance topics and internships in
nursing management with courses offered through the Brooklyn Campus School
of Business, Public Administration, and Information Sciences.
