offers new Real Estate Certificate Programs.
These real estate certificate courses provide a forum for discussion of general and specific interest. They reflect a multifaceted educational resources, designed to meet a variety of needs both for the industry and the public. They have
been designed for:
- working men and women, interested in changing careers or establishing a second career as a Real Estate Salesperson;
- college business majors who wish to consolidate their studies by acquiring knowledge of real estate finance and/or preparing for a future career in real estate;
- prospective home buyers, present homeowners and investors who want to increase their knowledge of the nuts and bolts of the real estate industry.

Certificate Requirements
To be eligible to receive the certificate, you must successfully complete the course and pass the school exam. Then in order to obtain your real estate license you will be required to also pass the State exam.
Course Schedule at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus
Real Estate Salesperson's 45-hour Qualifying Course
The salesperson's course is required by the Department of State as a prerequisite for its licensing exam (required for all persons wishing to become real estate salespeople). After completing this course and passing the school and state exams, the student is then qualified to work under the sponsorship of a licensed broker in New York State.
This course consists of 45 hours of lectures and a school exam. Students must attend a minimum of 40-1/2 hours and pass the final exam.
Topics include: real estate instruments, law of contracts, real estate finance, closing and closing costs, law of agency, license law and ethics, valuation, and real estate math.
Salesperson applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Note: A student can start at any time. The course consists of 12 independent sessions (each approximately 3 - 4 hours) that can be taken in any order. There will be 2 sessions given every day.
