ALUMNI AND PROFESSIONAL MENTOR PROGRAM
The Alumni and Professional Mentor Program can match you with employed
alumni and other professionals who can answer career related inquiries,
helping to facilitate your career choices and preparation. To prepare
students for their mentor contact, students meet with a career counselor
at the Office of Career Services. Counselors coach students on how
to conduct a productive informational interview that can help you
gain real world input sot that you can better assess your career
objectives as well as obtaining cutting edge information about trends
in your field and about career opportunities.
The Alumni and Professional Mentor Program offers varied options
for mentoring involvement, with choices to fit your schedule and
communication preference: e-mentoring, phone mentoring, or face
to face mentoring.
JOB SHADOWING PROGRAM
The Office of Career Services in conjunction with the Alumni Office
and the Alumni Association co-sponsors a Job Shadowing Program.
This program can provide you the opportunity to visit your worksite
and “shadow” you, observing some of the activities of
an actual day-in-the-life of a mentor. Shadowing experiences are
unique for every mentor and mentee, but the goal is ultimately the
same- to assist students to assist students to be able to visualize
themselves in their future careers. You can volunteer to observe
a mentor on the job for as little as a total of five hours within
a 14 week semester.
