The Jumpstart Program

At Jumpstart, we pair motivated college students, with preschool children. The goal is to create caring and supportive one-on-one relationships to help children build language, literacy and social skills. As a Jumpstart member you will:

  • Provide one on one mentoring twice a week to a child who is struggling in preschool
  • Assist in the classroom
  • Work with a team of motivated peers
  • Receive training to help children develop language, literacy and social skills through one on one reading and interactive activities
  • Receive professional development in early childhood education
  • Serve a total of 10-12 hours per week for a full school year (for a total of 300 hours)
