Walk-in Tutoring
The Writing Center schedules a limited number of walk-in tutoring hours each semester during which time a student can come in without an appointment and meet with a tutor. Walk-in sessions are also possible when regularly scheduled appointments get canceled; in such cases, tutors are often available, so students should check with the Writing Center's front desk staff for availability. Regularly scheduled walk-in hours are posted in the Writing Center at the beginning of each semester.

Typically lasting only about 15 minutes, these sessions are geared toward answering questions of limited scope (e.g., how to use a comma? how to correctly cite a periodical using MLA formatting?). More involved issues, such as planning a paper, developing techniques for better paragraphing, and learning strategies for more effective sentences, usually are better addressed over a series of appointments with a regularly scheduled tutor.
