Week 7
Ballers 40 vs. X-Birds 26
The first game of the night featured the X-Birds and the Ballers.
This game was important for both teams. If the X-Birds win they
would secure second place in the Dekalb Conference, resulting
in a playoff berth. However, if the Ballers win they would tie
the X-Birds for second place and split the season series. The
Ballers came out knowing the importance of this game jumping out
to an early lead and sustaining the lead for the entire game.
The Ballers beat the X-Birds in convincing fashion by a score
of 40-26. This was the best game the Ballers played as a team.
The Ballers were coached by former player Aaron Johnson; he made
the proper substitutes and called time-outs when the X-Birds made
their run. For the X-Birds, Scott Gomez is the only player that
comes to play every week, scoring a game-high 14 points. His supporting
case has to step up their play especially Tory Federicks. Tory
has not played well these past several games. Loukman "Beans"
Kinushi Dekalb's Conference Player of the Week put in a team high
13 points. Anthony chipped in 9 and two players scored 7, respectively.
Both teams are tied for second place with a record of (3-4).
Untitle
45 vs. Hiceberg Thugs 26
This game would also determine the teams' playoff fate. Untitle
accepted the challenge dealing with the Hiceberg Thugs early.
Rodolph Durand rose to the occasion scoring the first 7 points
for Untitle. After Durand got his team going Eugene Hicks and
Floyd Potts picked up the slack. Rahim also played well getting
his teammates involved and applying pressure on the Hiceberg Thugs'
guards. With Untitle's 45-26 victory over the Hiceberg Thugs,
they move into second place in the Flatbush Conference. The Hiceberg
Thugs did not come to play tonight, they were led by their leading
scorer Macsims Mazile, 14 points. Untitle was led by Floyd Potts
16 points and Eugene Hicks added 10 points.
