Nothing But Net League

Week 4

L.I.U.'s Evening Intramurals Nothing But Net Basketball League (NBNL) is back for its third season. This semester the league stayed with the same amount of teams from last year. There were a lot of players changing teams with two of the eight teams new to the league, including a woman's team. Each team would play a total of seven regular season games round robin style, there are two divisions, Dekalb and Flatbush, the top two teams from each division will participate in the Nothing But Net playoffs which is single elimination. Each team receives two time-outs per half, besides that the action never stops. This is the first time a woman's team is participating in the league. The team consists of head coach, coaching staff, an ex-LIU ladybird's players. In its third season, NBNL is getting popularity and recognization not only among students but also staff and faculty are coming forward to participate. The attendance has vastly increased from the previous year. DJs and free giveaways made this league more colorful to everyone.

Hornets vs Get Busy
Both the teams failed to show up on time in the first game of the night resulted to a tie.

Good 2 Go 26 vs. Lights Out 24
The second game of the evening featured Good 2 Go vs. Lights Out. Both teams played a defensive game and made few baskets through out the first half. Lights Out managed to take 1 point lead at the end of the first half, with the score at 13-12. During the second half, Lights Out tried keeping the lead but Good 2 Go’s Kevin came out big and helped his team to win their second game in a row. Kevin scored game high 13 points.

Ball Til Ya Fall 30 vs. Untitle 26
Ball Til Ya Fall faced Untitle in the next game. Ball Till Ya Fall started in an aggressive style and took 11-0 lead at one point. It took a little while for Untitle to organize them and get back in the game. Untitle only had five players and Rahim was in foul trouble throughout the game. Fatigue became the biggest problem for the Untitle in the second half. Despite, their problems Untitle was close trailing 25-24 at 1 minutes remaining of the game. Couple of 3 pointers from Stardyn helped the game to bring in a fighting mood.  Eddy scored 14 points for the BTYF and improved their unbeaten record (4-0). Stardyn scored a game high 17 points for the losing side.

Do Da Damn Thing 29 vs. Big Twelve 9
Coming into tonight’s game Do Da Damn Thing was the clear favorites against the Big Twelve. So far Big Twelve played just one game and suffered a huge loses. They didn’t show up for their second and third game. The game got out of control early as DDDT led 22-7 at the half. One of the biggest problems for the Big Twelve was their inaccurate shooting at basket. Even they were having problem with their lay-ups. If they keep playing like this, it will be a winless season for them. Greg led all scores with 12 points for DDDT.  Do Da Damn Thing remain undefeated (4-0) while Big Twelve drops to
(0-4).
