WEEK TWO
BK FINEST 24 vs. THA DYNASTY 22
BK Finest certainly did not look like the team that lost by 19 points to Team Smooth last wee. They were at their finest tonight starting with Tarique Stewart who opened the scoring with a trey, they also played better defense holding Tha Dynasty to only 8 first half points. The score was tied 8-8 at the half.
Tha Dynasty’s captain Samson Rich decided to carry his team in the second half, scoring all of his team high seven points. Giving Tha Dynasty the lead for most of the second period until BK Finest took the lead with 41 seconds left in the game. Rich hits a trey pointer to tie the game with 28 seconds remaining Stewart hits a trey of his own with 15 seconds left to put BK Finest up by two. Skylar Laguerre goes to the line with 4 seconds left shooting three free throws for the win and misses all of them; BK Finest grabs the rebound and holds on for the 24-22 win.
BF Finest goes against Brooklyn Running Rebels (1-1) while Tha Dynasty faces Team Smooth (1-1) this should be an entertaining game.
S.I.N.Y 42 vs. #1 38
S.I.N.Y is the only unbeaten in the tournament after two weeks, this just shows how close the teams are in talent. S.I.N.Y’s Victor Flores continued his scoring like last week; he had nine points in the half along with seven apiece for Rich Henry and Kenneth King. #1 was lead by captain Dupreme Powell with eight. At the half score was 23-19.
Both teams had runs of their own in the second half, with Rich Henry scoring eight of his team high fifteen points in the half. Powell added five more points to his total and led his team with thirteen points in a loosing effort.
S.I.N.Y faces Get Off ME (0-2) and #1 goes up against Cross A Fella (1-1).
BROOKLYN RUNNING REBELS 38 vs. TEAM SMOOTH 37
This was the third close game for the night, Brooklyn Running Rebels’ (BRR) Aalon Wilson and Joseph Garcia opened the scoring with a two and trey respectively to jump out on a 5-0 run. Team Smooth then went on a run of it’s own to tie the score. Shamark Limehouse had 10 of his team high 15 points in the first half, teammate Tyrone McCleese was held to 3 first half points. Gary Lewis netted 8 of his game high 18 points in the half and BRR led 19-18 at the half.
The second half was just as close as the first with the both teams making runs of their own. McCleese got hot in the second half hitting consecutive treys to extend Team Smooth’s lead. Lewis had 10 second half points and BRR was up once more there were 3 lead changes in the final minute when Limehouse made both free throws to give Team Smooth a 1 point lead with 17 seconds left, Eric Morales handed an assist to Joseph Garcia who made the basket as time ran out.
BRR plays BK Finest (1-1) both teams looking for their second victory while Team Smooth goes against Tha Dynasty (1-1)
CROSS A FELLA 35 vs. GET OFF ME 25
Both teams came into this contest looking for their first victory. Cross A Fella was off to a quick start with Charles Wynn, Tameek Floyd and Marlon Zorton with 4 points apiece, extending Cross A Fella lead to 15-6 by the half.
Zorton picked up where he left off last week, scoring 14 of his game high 18 points in the second half. Get Off Me picked up their game in the half with Shaun Ramani scoring all 7 of his points they did get within 4 points of Cross A Fella 20-24 but Cross A Fella went on another run to put the game out of reach.
Cross A Fella will try for win number two against #1 (1-1) and Get Off Me still looking for their first win goes against undefeated S.I.N.Y (2-0)
