WEEK FOUR

TEAM SMOOTH 31 vs. GET OFF ME 26
Once again Get Off Me started off aggressive and looking for their first win and had the lead for most of the first half. It was not until 1:15 left on the clock when Team Smooth’s Tyrone McCleese hit a trey to take the lead. At the half Team Smooth led 16-14 with Tyrone McCleese 7 points and Vernon Steele 8 points for Get Off Me.
The second half started off like the first, but Team Smooth went on a 6-0 run with 4:00 left to make it 27-20. Get off Me did cut the lead to two with a four point play by Vernon Steele. But Team Smooth held on for the win. 31-26, leading scorers were Vernon Steele with 17 and Kent Ellis with 11. Next up for Get Off Me (0-4) is BK Finest (1-3) while Team Smooth (3-1) faces unbeaten S.I.N.Y (4-0).

S.I.N.Y 20 vs. THA DYNASTY 19
S.I.N.Y was missing three of their starters and they sure didn’t look like an unbeaten team during the first half. They committed six turnovers within the first five minutes, Tha Dynasty took advantage of this and had a 10 point lead at the half 16-6.
S.I.N.Y picked up their game in the second half going on an 8-0 run with Paul Smith accounting for 5 of the points. S.I.N.Y was finally able to get their first lead of the game with 3:00 left on a basket by Jimmy; they help onto their one point lead. Tha Dynasty had a change to pull off the upset when Jayme Coffy was fouled with: 01 on the clock with two free throws, he missed both shots. Santos Collazo led all scorers with 9 while Mark Hackett had 6 in a losing effort. S.I.N.Y (4-0) looks to keep their record against Team Smooth while Tha Dynasty (1-3) looks to rebound against #1 (3-1).

CROSS A FELLA 61 vs. BK FINEST 60 (3OT)
This turned out to be the best game of the tournament thus far it was evenly matched with numerous lead changes through out the entire game. The score was tied at 10 with 5:00 left in the first half; at the half BK Finest had a one point lead 21-20. Gonzalez netting 12 points while tournament leading scorer, Marlon Zorton had 8.
The second half was no different from the first with a lot of lead changes and this game was going to come down to the final seconds. With BK Finest holding onto a 3 point lead with: 05 on the clock Zorton hit a try to send the game into overtime 40-40.
 During the overtime both teams exchanged baskets this time Cross A Fella had the lead in the final seconds and Paul Foster hit the basket to send it into second overtime tied 49-49. like a heavyweight boxing match both teams plugged away at each other and once again Zorton had 2 of his game high 27 to send the game into its third overtime at 53-53. BK Finest started this period on a 6-0 run, but Cross A Fella soon settled down and slowly cut the lead. With time running out and BK Finest leading by one Zorton’s shot hits the rim and is tipped back in by Charles Hooks for the win. Cross A Fella (2-2) looks to get back over 500 against Brooklyn Running Rebels (2-2) while BK Finest (1-3) hopes to improve their record against Get Off Me (0-4).

 

#1 31 vs. Brooklyn Running Rebels (BRR) 28 (OT)
Both teams entered the game with the same record and like the previous three games it was an even competition with a few lead changes this game also went into overtime. At the half the score was 13-10 in favor of BRR.
BRR big men owned the paint and #1 had to rely on their jump shots, Dwight McPheil had three treys in the second half. Like the first half there were a few lead changes then BRR had a two point lead but Sean Monroe gets fouled while driving to the basket and he hits his two free throws to tie the game up and send it into overtime at 28-28.
During the overtime period #1 picked up on their defense causing a few turnovers and also holding BRR scoreless. Gordon Wilson scored on a drive to the basket while Monroe made one of his two foul shot to secure a three point win for #1 31-28.
#1 (3-1) looks to secure a spot in the playoff with a win against Tha Dynasty (1-3) while Brooklyn Running Rebels (2-2) looks to get back in contention with a win against Cross A Fella (2-2).
