WEEK 1
L.I.U.'s Evening Intramurals Nothing But Net Basketball League
is back for its second season. This semester the league increase
by two more teams to consists of eight teams, each team playing
a total of nine regular season games round robin style and the
single elimination playoffs. There are two divisions, Dekalb and
Flatbush, the top two teams from each division will participate
in the Nothing But Net playoffs. Each team receives two time-outs
per half, besides that the action never stops.
Do
Da Damn Thing 33 vs. Trendsetters 9
The first game of the season consisted of the Trendsetters and
Do Da Damn Thing. This game was over in the first half when the
Trendsetters could not get the ball pass half court. D.D.T. full
court pressure defense forced many turnovers, which lead to a
33-9 blowout. D.D.T was lead by Shamark Limehouse with 16 points
and Danielle Phillips added 11 points. In order for the Trendsetters
to be competitive next week they will need to recruit a point
guard or take better care of the basketball.
Untitle
21 vs. Hiceberg Thugs 19
The game between Hiceberg Thugs and Untitle was a lot more competitive
and intense then the first game. Both teams came out ready to
play, resulting in the game going to the wire. Untitle was able
to escape with a victory by a score of 21-19. Floyd Potts led
all scorers with 9 points.
X-Birds
vs. Ballers
The defending Nothing But Net champions, X-Birds met the Ballers
in the third game of the night. The champs started off slow but
last season's M.V.P. Scott Gomez stepped his play up and got his
team going. Gomez finished with a game-high 14 points, while leading
his team to a record of 1-0.

Gran 32 vs. Most Wanted 31
The final game of the night came down to Most Wanted and 75 Gran.
Most Wanted jumped out to an early lead but let 75 Gran back into
the game. In the second half, both teams traded baskets and hit
some big shots.75 Gran needed overtime to get pass Most Wanted.
The game came down to the last shot, which gave 75 Gran a one
point victory 32-31. Delroy led all scorers with 14 points.
