Nothing But Net League

WEEK 2

In the second week of the Nothing But Net Basketball League the attendance rose; it was a better turnout than the first week. The first game was between the Blazers and GB Inc. GB Inc. (1-1) proved to be too much vs. the Blazers (0-1) winning 55-49. The game began sloppy with many turnovers and missed shots but it picked up when Beans from GB Inc. started to catch fire. He got the team going by hitting several three pointers and finished with 13 points. Once GB Inc. led the Blazers at halftime, they never looked back. Kevin kept his team ahead by pouring in a team high 17 points. Kev is stepping up as an inside force for GB Inc., continuing to dominate the boards. The Blazers did make a comeback, led by high-flyer S. Limehouse who finished with 21 points and two monster dunks, John Gill also hit several 3 pointers finishing with 22 points. GB Inc had too much fire power for the Blazers' "dynamic duo".

The second game featured the Untouchables vs. D-Block. This was a good game from start to finish. The Untouchables (1-0) needed overtime to knock off D-Block (0-1) by a score of 34-29. Jeff, the Untouchables point guard ran the show, shaking defenders to the floor, and dropping dimes. Jeff had help from his backcourt partner Sean who scored 12 points while hitting several three pointers. Greg Perkins was the difference in this game. He owned the paint, grabbing every rebound, blocking shots, to go along with his 8 points. D-Block's hustle kept them close, forward Datmetri had a game high 14 points.

The final game of the night was the battle of unbeaten. The X-Birds (1-0) vs. the Streetballaz (1-0). The game was close throughout but the X-Birds' experience was the reason they came away with the victory. The Streetballaz started to self-destruct like the
Portland Trail Blazers, toward the end of the game with some help from the officials. There were some controversial calls down the stretch that could have went either way. Streetballaz' C. Morrison led all scorers.
