Greg Fox begins
his third year as associate director of athletics. He primarily
is responsible for the department’s external relations, including
overseeing its marketing, fundraising, corporate sponsorship and community
relations efforts.
For the previous eight
years, Fox was director of athletic media relations, responsible
for the promotion
of the campus’ 17
teams. Over this tenure, he upgraded all athletic publications along
with the department’s web site. He also acted as the primary
contact for the men’s basketball program and worked with director
of athletics John Suarez in helping to spearhead the LIU Athletics
Hall of Fame.
In his current role, he works closely with Suarez on several projects,
including the re-establishment of the Blackbird Club, merchandising,
promotions and a continuing effort to upgrade facilities. Fox also
acts as event manager for home athletic contests and chairs the LIU
Hall of Fame committee.
Fox worked at Fairleigh
Dickinson University from 1993-94 and was involved in the day-to-day
operation of its
athletics program. He
also was in charge of the campus’ annual golf outing, supervised
the department’s work study program and was involved in several
aspects of the physical education department.
From 1988-90, Fox marked
his first stint at FDU as the assistant sports information director.
Fox, who teaches
undergraduate courses
in journalism and sports marketing, received his undergraduate degree
in marketing from FDU in 1988. He earned his Master’s Degree
in human resource management from LIU in 2003. Fox and his wife,
Mary Anne, reside in Haworth, N.J.
