Pirillo Earns Northwood League Silver Glove Award

9/18/06 -- Long Island University’s Dan Pirillo (Marlboro, N.Y.) garnered the Northwoods League’s Silver Glove Award as one of the league’s finest in the field. The Northwoods League and Rawlings annually recognize the top fielders at each position with this honor.

Pirillo, playing summer ball for the Thunder Bay Border Cats, earned the award at the third base position where he committed just nine errors in 53 games.

“I am extremely proud to have had the opportunity to have Dan play with the Border Cats and wish him well in his further endeavors,” Thunder Bay general manager Greg Balac said.

Pirillo hit .252 with 13 RBIs for the Blackbirds last year. The senior-to-be ended the season with a .961 fielding percentage and committed just eight errors.
