Coach
CRAIG NOTO
Craig Noto enters his third season in Brooklyn as assistant
coach at Long Island University. In addition to serving as recruiting
coordinator, Noto will continue to assist head coach Don Maines
with other aspects of the program. He also focuses on practice
preparation and the evaluation of scouting reports.
Noto came to Long Island after playing for legendary
New York City coach Louie DeMartino at John Jay Community College.
Following
his time there, Noto served as head coach at St. Peter’s
Boys High School from 1993-96 and then again in 2001. In addition,
he guided St. Joseph by the Sea High School from 2002-04.
Noto also with the Bergen Beach Youth Organization from 1993-2005.
Over his 12 seasons as an instructor, he has led his teams to
nine World Series championships. Most recently, he directed the
Bergen Beach CABA 14-year old team to a championship in 2005.
A member of the Local 3 International Brotherhood of Electrical
Workers, Noto graduated from John Jay in 1992. He currently resides
in Staten Island, N.Y.
Graduate Assistant Coach
JOSHUA MACDONALD
Joshua MacDonald joins the Long Island University coaching staff
this season as a graduate assistant. MacDonald comes to Brooklyn
from Connecticut, where he played for the Huskies from 2002-06.
He finished his career third in all-time appearances with 62.
MacDonald also owns the fourth-best single-season appearance
mark, pitching in 22 games during the 2006 season. During that
campaign, Connecticut broke the school record for wins, with
39, and was the top team in New England.
MacDonald also played for the New Market Rebels in the Valley
League during the 2005 season. He was named a Northern League
All-Star that year.
The Milford, Conn., native earned a bachelor’s
degree in history from Connecticut in 2006.

Assistant Coach
CHRIS REYES
Chris Reyes is back for his second season
as a volunteer assistant coach on head coach Don Maines’ staff.
The former New York City Public School Athletic League Most
Valuable Player brings
a wealth of playing experience to the Blackbirds.
Reyes was selected the PSAL Most Valuable Player while at
Tottenville High School in Staten Island, N.Y. He led his team
to a 30-0 mark and a city championship during his senior season.
After batting .550 for the year, the catcher was named to the
All-New York State First Team and was a first team All-NYC
selection by the New York Daily News. Reyes was also named
Fourth Team All-America by the American Baseball Coaches Association.
Following his stellar high school career, Reyes played at Brookdale
Community College for two seasons. In 2002, he earned second
team all-region honors. He moved on to the College of Staten
Island, where he was named to the City University of New York
League First Team after his first season with the squad in 2004.
His .413 batting average ranked fourth in the CUNY.
