Natalie Desjardins Named Northeast Conference Golfer of the Week

10/18/06 -- Sophomore golfer Natalie Desjardins (Haileybury, Ontario) was awarded Northeast Conference Golfer of the Week on Wednesday, following her impressive runner-up performance at the Rutgers Women's Invitational last weekend.

It marks the third time in Desjardins' young career that she has picked up NEC weekly honors.

The Haileybury, Ontario native fired back-to-back rounds of 77 to finish tied with Amy Loughney of Bucknell in second place, one shot back of medalist Lauren Hughnerkoch. Desjardins was the top NEC finisher and led LIU to eighth-place out of 15 teams.

The Blackbirds continue their fall season on Oct. 27-29 at the Mount St. Mary's Fall Invitational in Emmitsburg, Md.
