Desjardins Tied For Second After First Day at Rutgers Invitational

 

10/13/06 – Sophomore Natalie Desjardins (Haileybury, Ontario) shot a first-round 77 to tie for second after day one of the Rutgers Women’s Invitational in Piscataway, N.J. on Friday.

As a team, the Blackbirds are in sixth position in the 15-team field after shooting 329. Bucknell holds a one-shot lead over Columbia in the two-day event at 316.

Desjardins trails Columbia’s Sara Ovadia by three shots heading into the final day. The reigning Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year shot 40 on the front nine, then picked it up on the back with a one-over-par 37. Junior Heather Pothier (Truro, Nova Scotia) is tied for 13th place (80), while sophomore Emma Lister (Manchester, England) is tied for 25th at 82.

The final round of the Rutgers Women’s Invitational will take place on Saturday, Oct. 14.
