4/15/07 – Sophomore
Rob Gallagher (Morganton, N.C.) carded a back nine of one-under
par 35 and finished the tournament tied for fourth at 75 in
a rain-shortened Lafayette Invitational this weekend. As a
team, the Long Island University men's golf team finished in
fifth place out of the 24 teams that competed.
Gallagher's round included an
eagle on the 17th hole, a 493-yard par five that yielded only
three eagles all day. The sophomore also finished tied for
fourth in par-four scoring with a 4.10 stroke average.
Classmate Greg Nicolson (Edinburgh,
Scotland) was the next best LIU finisher as he tied for 19th
at 78. Senior Matt Wilson (Toronto, Ontario) closed one stroke
behind Nicolson and tied for 30th.
Bucknell's Charles Waddell won
individual medalist honors as he fired a two-under par 70 to
finish one stroke better than Alan Borowsky of Lehigh. Borowsky
and teammate Matt Denison each recorded top-five finishes to
help the Mountain Hawks to the team title.
The men's golf team will return
to action on April 20-21 in Emmitsburg, Md. for the Mount St.
Mary's Invitational
