Lacrosse Releases 2006 Slate; Returns 10 Letterwinners in the Spring

 

 

10/11/05 -- Long Island University women’s lacrosse released its 2006 schedule on Tuesday. Head coach Regan Teti, in her second season, returns ten letterwinners and eight starters.

Junior Amy Rizzo (Jackson, N.J.) tops the list of returnees. The attacker registered 45 goals and 16 assists a season ago. The two-time All-Northeast Conference selection was first in the league last season – and tenth in the NCAA- in goals per game, averaging 3.21. She also topped the conference and was ranked tenth in the country in points per game (4.36).

Also returning to the fold is midfielder Nichole Lopez (Highland Mills, N.Y.). The senior was third in the NCAA in ground balls last spring (3.71).

They open play March 3, hosting Canisius. LIU begins league competition at Monmouth on March 24.
