Amy Rizzo Named Northeast Conference Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week

3/7/06 -- Junior Amy Rizzo (Jackson, N.J.) was named the Northeast Conference women's lacrosse Player of the Week on Tuesday.

The junior attacker tallied six points in the Blackbirds 9-8 setback to Canisius last week, opening the first half by scoring three straight goals for LIU.

Rizzo assisted on freshman Samantha Fischbeck’s first collegiate goal to start off the scoring in the second half and then netted another two of her own goals to finish the day with five goals and one assist.

A second-team All-NEC selection a season ago, Rizzo ranked 10th nationally last season in both goals per game (3.21) and points per game (4.36).

The Blackbirds travel to Fairfield University on Thursday, Mar. 9 for a road contest against the Stags at 4:00 p.m.
