LIU Lacrosse Earns IWLCA Academic Honor

7/23/07-- The Long Island University lacrosse team received Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Association Honor Squad award. In order to be eligible for the honor, a team must have a combined grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The Blackbirds accumulated a 3.02 GPA as a team during the 2006-07 academic year.

Long Island was one of 43 Division I programs recognized by the IWLCA this season. Twelve schools in Division II and 41 in Division III were honored. The three teams with the highest GPA in each division were named as Merit Squads.

The Blackbirds posted a 6-11-0 record in 2007, setting a program-record for wins.
