Lacrosse Selects Captains for 2005 Season

1/19/05 -- The Long Island lacrosse team is set to begin the 2005 season under new head coach Regan Teti. The Blackbirds tabbed junior attack Chrissie Carleton (Jackson, N.J.) and senior defender Kelly Moletress (Pottstown, Pa.) co-captains for the program’s third year.

LIU looks to build on a solid season from a year ago in which it closed 5-9 overall and fifth in the Northeast Conference at 3-4. The Blackbirds return 13 players from last year’s team and have added some young talent.

The season opener is Sunday, March 6 against Siena in Schenectady, N.Y. The Blackbirds play their home opener Wednesday, March 9 against Manhattan at 3:30 pm.
