4/28/05 --
Sophomore attacker Amy Rizzo (Jackson, N.J.) and
senior goalkeeper Trish Parker (Long Branch, N.J.) today were
named
second
team All-Northeast Conference for Long Island University’s
women’s lacrosse squad.
Rizzo, a first team All-NEC selection last season,
continued this year to make her mark as one of the league’s
preeminent scorers. The 5-0 standout broke her own single-season
school
record with 45 goals and 61 points. Rizzo is 10th in the country
with 4.36 points per game and 11th with 3.21 goals per game,
both of which lead the conference.
She enjoyed several record-breaking contests this year. Rizzo
broke her own school record with seven goals March 30 against
Central Connecticut State and three times tied her own record
with eight assists versus Central Connecticut State, Canisius
on March 11 and Robert Morris on April 8.
Parker stepped into the starting role this season and made an
immediate impact. The 5-6 backstop is fourth in the league with
a .481 save percentage and fifth with an 11.25 goals-against
average. Parker competed in 13 contests this season with 12 starts.
In addition to totaling 29 ground balls and eight caused turnovers,
Parker notched a season-best 17 saves April 5 at Quinnipiac and
12 on a pair of occasions for LIU (4-10, 3-5 NEC). |
