4/19/05 -- Sophomore Amy Rizzo (Jackson, N.J.) scored six goals and added an assist, but it was not enough as Long Island University dropped a 19-15 decision to Stony Brook in a college women’s lacrosse game on Tuesday night in Stony Brook, N.Y.

The Blackbirds (4-8, 3-3 NEC) got on the board quickly, netting the first score 3:17 into the game as junior Elaine Bonilla (Pennsauken, N.J.) tallied her fourth score of the season. The Seawolves rattled off the next seven goals, over the next ten minutes, to take a 7-1 advantage. Jill Gridley and Amy Taylor registered two goals each over the span.

LIU ended the run as junior Chrissie Carleton (Jackson, N.J.) and Rizzo scored back-to-back goals at 11:59 and 7:33, respectively. Rizzo scored her second goal in between two tallies from Marrisa Trachtenberg as the Seawolves took an 11-4 edge into the half.

The Blackbirds came out hot in the second half as senior Kelly Moletress (Pottstown, Pa.) sophomore Kayleigh Graves (Orlando, Fla.) and junior Tina Prickett (Eldora, N.J.) each scored in the first three minutes of the second stanza, to cut it to an 11-7 margin.

After two goals from the Seawolves, LIU went on a four goal run to make it a two-goal contest with 15:54 to play. Junior Nichole Lopez’s (Highland Mills, N.Y.) unassisted goal ended the run for an 13-11 score.

Stony Brook’s attackers Diana Caroleo and Carlee Buck put the game out of reach with tallies at the 15:44 and 11:33, respectively, for an 15-11 edge.

Less than a minute later, Carleton recorded her second goal of the game off a feed from Graves. Rizzo scored the final three goals for the Blackbirds with her sixth coming at the 3:26 mark.
