9/8/05 -- Long Island University third-year men’s basketball
coach Jim Ferry announced today the addition of Jack Perri
and
Richard Glesmann to his staff for the 2005-06 season.
Perri most recently served as the head
men’s basketball
coach at Rhode Island College (Division III), leading the team
to a berth in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC)
Tournament. He guided the Anchormen to a 20-9 record, the program's
first-ever Little East Conference co-regular season championship
and was named the league’s coach-of-the-year in his first
season.
The Manalapan, N.J. native spent six seasons on the sidelines
at Division II Bentley College (1998-2004). As the top assistant,
he was responsible for all aspects of recruiting for a squad
ranked number one in the country in 2004-05.
A 1998 graduate of Bentley, Perri
played in 99 games for the Falcons. He served as captain for
two seasons. Perri was recruited
by and subsequently replaced long-time Bentley assistant and
current LIU coach Ferry on the Falcons bench.
Rich Glesmann will join the staff as Director of Basketball
Operations. He worked the past two seasons at Adelphi University.
Last season, the Panthers posted a 22-7 ledger and led Division
II in scoring defense (55.5 ppg) and field goal percentage defense
(.376).
Prior to Adelphi, Glesmann was the head women's basketball coach
at Wheelock College in Boston. The second youngest head coach
in the country at the time (2002), Glesmann's team improved
their win total from the year before by five games.
A native of Wayland, Mass., Glesmann attended Salisbury State
before transferring to Emerson College in Massachusetts where
he graduated in 2001. A three-year starter at guard, he guided
the Lions to a record setting 21-9 mark his senior season
and a trip to the ECAC Championships.
