Men's Soccer Dropped by Michigan State, 2-1

9/09/05 - Long Island held Michigan State scoreless in the final 78 minutes but it was not enough as the Blackbirds dropped a 2-1 decision at the Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Friday.

The Spartans, the defending Big Ten champions, scored two goals in the first 12 minutes of play. Pre-Season All-American midfielder Ryan McMahen found the net off a corner kick in the 12th minute to push the Spartans out ahead, 2-0.

LIU freshman Michael Gagliano registered his first collegiate score in the 86th minute off a pass from senior Mustapha Ayoub

Keeper Alex Fatovic recorded six saves.

The Blackbirds face host Michigan on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. The teams played to a 1-1 tie a year ago in Brooklyn.
