Frank Alesci Lone Freshman Named to All-Northeast Conference First Team

11/2/06 -- Long Island University men’s soccer freshman Frank Alesci (Ridgewood, N.Y.) was selected to the All-Northeast Conference First Team in a vote of the league’s head coaches that was released Thursday evening. Alesci, a midfielder, was the only rookie selected to the 11-member team.

Alesci was second on the Blackbirds in goals, finding the back of the net four times. He tallied both goals in Long Island’s 2-1 win over Central Connecticut State on Oct. 8 and added a goal and an assist against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Oct. 15.

The freshman, who also netted a goal against Fairleigh Dickinson on Oct. 1, finished second on the team in scoring, with nine points. Alesci’s 37 shots were the most by any Blackbird this season.

Long Island closed out the season with a 4-11-2 record and a 2-5-2 mark in conference action.
