10/1/06 -- The Long Island University men's soccer team dropped its fourth straight contest, a 2-1 decision at Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday afternoon.

The Knights got on the board just five minutes into the contest, as Adrian Dinculescu redirected a cross from Alejandro Bedoya into the right side of the net.

Just 11 minutes later, the Blackbirds responded as a shot by Mohammad Mashriqi (Flushing, N.Y.) caromed off the right post. Frank Alesci (Ridgewood, N.J.) was there to cash in the rebound as he collected his first goal of the season.

Long Island had numerous opportunities in the first half but could not take advantage. FDU did, however, as freshman Samson Malijani scored his third goal of the season in the 40th minute to break the tie.

Alex Fatovic (Falls Chruch, Va.) posted three saves in the Blackbirds’ (2-8-0, 0-2 NEC) losing effort.

The Blackbirds continue their conference schedule on Friday, Oct. 6 as they take on Quinnipiac at home at 4:00 p.m.
