Former Blackbird Eric Masters Named to USL Second Division Team of the Week

 


 

 

5/31/06 -- Former Long Island University men's soccer goalie Eric Masters (Carmel, Ind.) was named to the United Soccer League Second Division Team of the Week for his efforts last week.

Masters is currently playing for the Long Island Rough Riders of the USL along with former Blackbirds midfielder Ricardo Ordain (Brooklyn, N.Y.).

Against the Richmond Kickers on May 27, Masters tallied eight saves in a 0-0 draw that gave Long Island its first point of the season. The Rough Riders were blanked by Richmond, 5-0, earlier this season on May 6.

Masters logged over 3000 minutes in goal at LIU, registering 145 career saves. He boasted a save percentage of .770 over 37 career contests. His best numbers came in 2001, where he earned 19 starts while recording a career-best goals against average of 1.54.
