-- Former Long Island University men's soccer standout
Ricardo Ordain (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recently signed with the
Long Island Rough Riders of the United Soccer League's (USL)
Second Division.
Ordain signed with
Long Island after having spent one season with the Charlotte
Eagles, also of the USL Second Division. After joining Charlotte
part way through their championship campaign last season,
he was named to the USL’s “Team of the
Week” after scoring two goals in his first professional
start during Charlotte’s 3-0 victory over the Rough Riders
back on July 30th. Ordain
finished the year with 5 goals and 1 assist in only 11 appearances.
The Costa Rica native
spent one season at LIU in 2004 and helped lead the squad
to its first NCAA Tournament berth since 1986. He was a first
team All-Northeast Conference selection after ranking second
on the team in both goals (4) and assists (4). Ordain was also
a member of the Blackbirds track and field squad and was a
member of the 1600m-relay team that set a new school record
last spring.
