-- Josh Couvillion (New Orleans, La.), a standout
four-year defender for Long Island University's men's soccer
team, today is expected to sign a deal to play in the Swedish
Division II League.
Couvillion will
compete for IK Oddevold in Uddevalla, Sweden. He played in
a scrimmage Friday with the team at right back.
A member of last
year's Northeast Conference championship squad which competed
in the NCAA College Cup, Couvillion was tabbed second team
All-NEC as a senior. He was part of a defense last
year which was tops in the league and 40th in the nation
with a 0.99 goals-against average.
Also a second team
All-NEC pick in 2003, Couvillion helped the Blackbirds notch
24 shutouts over his four-year stint.
Couvillion is not
the only one for LIU men's soccer to enjoy post-graduate success.
Ricardo Ordain (2004) is competing for the Charlotte Eagles,
Ryszard Gorski (2002-04) plays
for the Cocoa Expos and David Schofield
(2001-03) is with the Harrisburg City Islanders, all of the
United Soccer Leagues. Gorski and Schofield are headed to Turkey
to represent Great Britain at the Summer Universiade, an international
event comparable to the Olympics. |
