9/19/05 -- Long Island University setter Ivana Vasiljevic (Brcko, Bosnia & Herzegovina/Brcko City) was named the Northeast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week as announced by the conference office this afternoon.

The graduate student helped to lead the Blackbirds to a 3-0 mark and the tournament title this past weekend in their own tourney, the Courtyard by Marriott Classic. Vasiljevic tallied 151 assists, 16 kills and 31 digs over the three match span.

On Saturday, the LIU all-time digs leader registered double-doubles in 3-1 victories over Weber State (53 assists, 14 digs) and Georgia Southern (56 assists, 11 digs). She added 12 kills, one ace and a block to wrap up the day.

The three-time all-NEC performer has handed out 451 assists on the season, an average of 9.20 per game.

The Blackbirds travel to Fairfield, Conn. to participate in the Fairfield Invitational on Friday, September 23. LIU takes on Columbia at 4:00 p.m. On Saturday, they face Albany and the host Stags.
