Women's Basketball Posts 64-52 Victory Against Basket Treviso In First European Tour Game

5/22/06--Junior Sara Oblak (Skoja Loka, Slovenia) had 16 points and four rebounds to lead a feisty Long Island University women’s basketball team to a 64-52 win over Basket Treviso on Monday, May 22 in Venice, Italy.

Brittani Kozik (Belle Plaine, Iowa) added 12 pts, four rebounds and three assists while sophomore Mikaelar Whippy (Suva, Fuji) netted eight points, five boards and seven steals.

Juniors Masa Susic (Zenica, Bosnia & Herzegovina) and Marquita Thompson (Garland, Texas) chipped in eight points apiece. Classmates Sonya Coleman (Toledo, Ohio) and Anna Dziadkowiec (Krakow, Poland) each added five points.

Sophomore Joella Pounds (Clifton, N.J.) contributed two points in the effort.

The Blackbirds, down 29-28 at the half, scored 36 points in the second frame to take the victory over the tough Italian team.

LIU will see action on Wednesday, May 24, when the team takes on KK Skofja Loka, a Slovenian Club team
