Day 8
After a long 10 months, I could
finally say I was home!! It felt really good to see my family
and friends after being in New York
City for the school year.
As it turned out, the trip from
Split to Dubrovnik wasn’t
all that bad (3 hours on the bus) and we couldn’t wait
to see one of the most beautiful cities in Croatia. Dubrovnik
is a port city on the Croatian coast of the Adriatic Sea. After
a good night's sleep, everybody headed out to experience the
beautiful and amazing Dubrovnik. This city used to be a Republic
and something
that makes Dubrovnik special is the castle in the center of the
city.
After a long day at the beach,
we played our most competitive game of the trip against Ragusa
Dubrovnik.
This team took us
into overtime, but we rose to the occasion and remained
undefeated in Europe. For me, this game was something
very
special
because my family and friends came to see me play for the first
time while being a member of the Long Island University Blackbirds.
(Note: Masa has been at LIU for 3 years!)
Some people stayed
after
our game to watch the Ragusa men’s team play while others
headed back to rest up at our 7 bedroom, 7 bathroom, 7 kitchen
villa. We joke around that the villa we are staying in is like
our own version of the Real World on MTV. Real World Dubrovnik,
European style! Everyone found something to enjoy for the rest
of the
night, either sitting on our balcony and enjoying the beautiful
sunset view or heading back into the city to have some fun.
