2/9/06 -- Junior Marquita Thompson (Garland, Texas) registered a career-best 26 points as the Long Island University women's basketball team avenged a previous loss this season with a 64-59 victory over Mount St. Mary's on Thursday evening.

With the game tied at 50-50 with 6:49 remaining in the game, Thompson capped a 9-0 spurt with back-to-back layups to give the Blackbirds a lead that they would not relinquish.

Junior Brittani Kozik (Bell Plaine, Iowa) tallied 11 points off the bench for LIU, which pulled into a tie for fifth place in the Northeast Conference standings.
