Selima Berisha named NEC Player of the Week

9/26/05– Long Island University junior Selima Berisha (Bellevue, Wash./Newport) today was named Northeast Conference Player of the Week.

The forward tallied three goals and seven points, propelling the Blackbirds to a 2-0 ledger last week. Berisha scored the game-winner and added an assist in a 3-0 shutout over Temple. She accounted for both scores in a 2-1 triumph over Iona on Sunday that pushed the team over the .500 mark on the season (5-4).

Berisha leads the Blackbirds and ranks second in the NEC with five goals. She is also third in the conference with 12 points

LIU opens conference play against preseason favorite Central Connecticut State on Friday, Sept. 30 at 3:00 p.m.
