Ashley O'Connor Selected to NSCAA/adidas All-Northeast Region Third Team

1/4/07 -- Long Island University senior Ashley O'Connor (Venetia, Pa.) was recently named to the NSCAA/adidas All-Northeast Region Third Team, as a result of balloting from a voting panel of selected Division 1 head coaches.

O'Connor is the first LIU player to be named to a NSCAA/adidas All-Region team in the program's ten-year history. It is the second All-Northeast Region team the senior defender has been named to, as she was previously named to the Soccer Buzz All-Northeast Region third team.

A two-year co-captain, O’Connor fronted the Blackbirds’ lockdown defense that limited conference opponents to just three goals this season. For her efforts, she was named an All-Northeast Conference First Team selection. She also tallied a goal and two assists, both career-highs.

O’Connor was a four-year starter at LIU and closes her career as part of the only senior class that had a winning record in each of its four seasons on the Brooklyn Campus.

Long Island closed the season with a 13-8-1 record and advanced to the NCAA Women's College Cup for the second time in program history following a Northeast Conference Tournament championship.
