2/18/06 -- The Long Island University women's tennis team fell to 1-2 on the spring season with a 7-0 loss to Seton Hall on Saturday at Stadium Tennis Center.

In singles action, senior Krystina Bachner (Penfield, N.Y.) and junior Merve Koksal (Ankara, Turkey) both dropped their matches in tiebreakers.

Koksal won the first set against Amanda El-Tobgy in No. 2 singles, 6-4, but dropped the second, 6-3, and was beaten 10-6 in the tiebreaker.

Ahead by one set against Sylvia Jaros in No. 3 singles, Bachner also dropped the second set, 6-2, and the tiebreak, 10-4.

The Pirates also swept the doubles matches, 3-0, to earn the point and the 7-0 victory.

The Blackbirds will entertain Hofstra on Friday, Feb. 24 at 6:00 p.m.
