4/1/06 -- Freshman Ashley Harvey (Randallstown, Md.) won her 10th consecutive singles match in three sets but it was not enough as the Long Island University women's tennis team dropped a non-conference road match to Albany, 4-2, on Friday afternoon.

Harvey dropped the first set of her match at No. 4 singles with Amanda Hall, 4-6, before taking the final two sets, 6-4 and 6-2. The win improves her singles record to 17-3 on the season.

Fellow classmate Amy Hosotsuji (Toronto, Canada) collected the Blackbirds final point at No. 5 singles by defeating Christina Suarez in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0.

Senior Krystina Bachner (Penfield, N.Y.) won the first set of her match at No. 3 singles, 6-2, but was upended by the same margin in the final two sets.

LIU's match with Army, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 1, has been cancelled. The Blackbirds are slated to open Northeast Conference play on Sunday, April 2 at Sacred Heart at 1:00 p.m.
