Ashley Harvey (Randallstown, Md.) won her 10th consecutive
singles match in three sets but it was not enough as the
Long Island University women's tennis team dropped a non-conference
road match to Albany, 4-2, on Friday afternoon.
Harvey dropped the first set
of her match at No. 4 singles with Amanda Hall, 4-6, before
taking the final two sets, 6-4 and 6-2. The win improves her
singles
record
to 17-3 on the season.
Fellow classmate Amy Hosotsuji
(Toronto, Canada) collected the Blackbirds final point at No.
5 singles by defeating Christina Suarez in straight sets, 6-4,
6-0.
Senior Krystina Bachner (Penfield,
N.Y.) won the first set of her match at No. 3 singles, 6-2,
but was upended by the same margin in the final two sets.
LIU's match with
Army, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 1, has been
cancelled.
The Blackbirds
are slated to open Northeast Conference play on Sunday, April
2 at Sacred Heart at 1:00 p.m.
