Harvey Advances to Quarterfinals of Dartmouth Big Green Invite

10/30/06 -- Sophomore Ashley Harvey (Randallstown, Md.) won her first two matches at the Dartmouth Big Green Invite in Hanover, N.H. over the weekend before falling in the quarterfinals.

The reigning Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year defeated Grace Hedstrom of Rhode Island, 7-6, 6-2, in the opening round. She then swept Sugam Langner of Siena, 6-0, 6-0, before falling to Danielle Abraham of Boston University, 6-3, 6-1.

In doubles action, Harvey and freshman H'Ann Johnson (St. John's, Antigua) won their opening-round match against Hedstrom and Nyssa Peele of Rhode Island, 9-7. The sister duo of Lindsay and Mary Beth Winingham of Dartmouth dropped the pair, 8-3, in the second round.

The event was the final one for the Long Island women's tennis team this fall.
