Tennis Falls to Stony Brook, 5-2

3/25/06 -- Long Island University dropped a hard-fought 5-2 decision to Stony Brook in women’s college tennis action in West Point, N.Y. on Saturday.

Junior Merve Koksal (Ankara, Turkey) rolled to a 6-4, 6-3 decision over Hana Chovanova at No. 2 singles.

Freshman Ashley Harvey (Randallstown, Md.) continued her impressive first season, posting a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Erica Federgreen in the fourth position. Harvey has won nine straight and moved to 16-3 on the year with the win.

At No. 1 singles, Jessica Loose took Anne Cathrine Valle to three sets before falling, 6-4, 6-7 (10-12), 6-3. Freshman Amy Hosotsuji) battled Viviana Figueroa to three sets 4-6, 6-1, 10-2 but could not hang on for the victory in the fifth singles spot.
