4/1/07 -- The Long Island University women's tennis team won three singles matches and the No. 3 doubles match but it was not enough as the Blackbirds lost their sixth straight match, a 4-3 decision to Colgate, on Sunday afternoon.

Senior Merve Koksal (Ankara, Turkey) and sophomore Ashley Harvey (Randallstown, Md.) each won for the second consecutive day in straight sets. It was the 10th singles victory of the season for Harvey, which leads the team. Sophomore Liliana Cortes also posted a three-set victory at No. 4 singles.

Harvey and Hosotsuji were victorious at the third doubles spot, winning 8-3 over the Red Raiders duo of Erin Fenn and Jackie Stimmel.

LIU looks to rebound on Monday, April 2 as it faces St. John's at 4:00 p.m.
