Liliana Cortes Named Prince/Northeast Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week

4/10/07 -- Sophomore Liliana Cortes (Cochabamba, Bolivia) has been named the Prince/Northeast Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending April 9, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Cortes sparked the Blackbirds to a 7-0 win over Monmouth on Monday with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Laura Giuliari in No. 4 flight singles play. She also paired with senior Merve Koksal (Ankara, Turkey) to take the top doubles match, 8-2.

The Bolivian has now won three straight singles matches and has boosted her record to 6-5 at the No. 4 position this season. She has also paired with Koksal to accumulate a 10-9 record in doubles this season.

Long Island looks to remain perfect in NEC play on Friday, April 13 as it hosts Fairleigh Dickinson.
