Northeast Conference season with a doubleheader sweep of Fairleigh
Dickinson and St. Francis (N.Y.) on Friday. The Blackbirds
(8-11, 4-0 NEC) beat the Knights, 4-3, and downed the Terriers,
5-1.
Senior Merve Koksal (Ankara,
Turkey) went 2-0 in singles play and then teamed with Liliana
Cortes (Cochabamba, Bolivia) to win the No. 1 doubles match
against FDU. Classmate Xenia Roman (Vera Cruz, Mexico)
also won both of her singles matches as did sophomore Amy Hosotsuji

matches, the No. 3, 5 and 6 positions, against Fairleigh Dickinson

closely-contested
match,
4-3. Against St. Francis (N.Y.), LIU dropped only a single
