Women’s Tennis Posts 6-3 Victory Over Minnesota State-Mankato

3/15/05 -- Long Island University won five of its singles matches, beginning its Florida trip with a 6-3 victory over Minnesota State-Mankato in Orlando, Fla.

The Blackbirds (8-4) received victories from sophomore Merve Koksal (Ankara, Turkey) at first singles, senior Veronica Apostu-Efremov (Budapest, Hungary) at second singles, senior Ellen Anolin (Flushing, N.Y.) at fourth singles and sophomore Xenia Roman (Vera Cruz, Mexico) at sixth singles.

Koksal and Anolin won at first doubles as did Apostu-Efremov and junior Claudia Arteaga (Cali, Colombia) at second doubles.

LIU, which improved to 3-2 in the spring, will battle Radford on Wednesday in Orlando, Fla.
