Lewis Warsh
Academic Specialties & Research Interests
Lewis Warsh is the author of three novels, Agnes &
Sally (1984), A Free Man (1991) and Ted's Favorite
Skirt (2002); two books of stories, Money Under the
Table (1998) and Touch of the Whip (2001); and
numerous books of poems, including Avenue of Escape
(1996) and The Origin of the World (2001). A book length
poem, Debtor's Prison, in collaboration with Julie
Harrison, was published in 2001. He is co-editor of The
Angel Hair Anthology (2001), and is editor and publisher
of United Artists Books. His poems have appeared in numerous
anthologies, including The Best American Poetry 1997,
2002 and 2003. He has received grants from The National Endowment
for the Arts, the New York Fellowship in the Arts and The
Fund for Poetry. He has taught workshops in fiction and poetry
in the graduate and undergraduate program at Long Island University
since 1984.
