ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ENGLISH, PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL
WRITING
The English Department at the Brooklyn campus of Long Island
University anticipates a September 2008 opening for a tenure-track
Assistant Professor in PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL WRITING.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in either Professional and
Technical Communication or Rhetoric and Composition, or a
terminal degree in a closely related field. We are seeking
a colleague who can teach a broad range of professional writing
courses. The department is developing a new concentration
in Professional Writing with a Masters degree and a certificate
in the field. All faculty are expected to teach composition
as well as advanced undergraduate and graduate courses. The
position requires nine credit-hours of teaching per semester,
research and publication, and active service to the University.
Long Island University is a private, non-sectarian university
located in the heart of revitalized downtown Brooklyn. The
Brooklyn campus is home to 11,000 students and serves an ethnically
and economically diverse population. Assistant Professors
start at $59,265.
