The Louis and
Ann Parascandola Graduate English Award
In honor of his parents, Louis Parascandola of the English
Department gives an annual award ($300) to an outstanding
graduate student in any of the English Department's four
M.A. tracks (Literature, Creative Writing, Professional
Writing, and The Teaching of Writing). The Award
is presented at the English Department's annual awards
ceremony, which is held at the end of the Spring semester.
The first award year was 2002.
In order to be eligible for this award, a student must
have completed at least 24 credits by the end of the previous
Fall semester with at least a 3.7 GPA. They also
need a written recommendation from a member of the English
Department's graduate faculty and a writing sample (e.g.,
a paper submitted for a graduate class).
