to Become a High School or Middle School English Teacher
If
you are just starting college at LIU and you have not yet
declared a major. . .
Declare Adolescence
Urban Education as your primary major, and make English
your secondary major. You will be eligible for teacher certification
upon graduation!
If
you are an undergraduate at LIU and you are already majoring
in English . . .
Change your primary major to Adolescence
Urban Education, and make English your secondary major.
You will be eligible for teacher certification upon graduation!
If
you already have a bachelor's degree and your transcript shows
at least 18 credits in advanced English courses. . .
Get your M.S.Ed.
in Adolescence Urban Education. You will be eligible for
teacher certification when you graduate! (Or, you can get
Internship Certification after 18-21 credits and start working
as an English teacher while you finish your degree.)
If
you already have a Masters degree in English. . .
Get your M.S.Ed.
in Adolescence Urban Education. You can get Internship
Certification after 12 credits and start working as an English
teacher while you finish your degree!
